Hello World,
Day 2 in Alabama we're just hangin out right now playing some spoons but i'll give ya a recap of the day. We woke up and breakfast was quite eventful. Breakfast was going pretty smoothly until Kay nearly set of the fire alarms as he was attempting to make some eggs, from that point we decided cold breakfast was the way to go. We all then loaded into the big ol bus and headed out an old Civil War park reserve. After tossin the ball around a little bit we proceeded to the dock and got on a boat. On the boat we took an about hour and a half tour of the Delta of Mobile. This was quite the experience, we saw some of the battle grounds of the Civil Wars including many of the Confederate bases. Our tour guide Stacy knew his stuff and really had a lot of knowledge about the history and shared his knowledge with us. To say it was a bit chilly during the expedition would be an understatement...but i still very much enjoyed this time. Probably the best part of it was bonding with the other ASBers. Next up we met up with our next tour guide Michael as he gave us a tour around Dauphin Island (spelling?). We first stopped at an area which a very long time ago was the home of very important french person....i wish i could remember his significance but i can't :/. We then went to this very nice lady's house to hang out, get a bath room break, and get ready to go out on the beach. The lady's name was Rosie and she was very hospitable and had 2 children there whom were both very friendly. They also had some birds in cages. I'm not sure if they were pets or what exactly they were there for but they were pretty cool looking and colorful. After this we went ahead and went to the beach and just hung out checkin out the Gulf of Mexico. I personally spent sometime getting to know our tour guide Michael better. We just talked about life in general, shared our faith stories and he gave me some advice on school (he was a business professor at Bethel years ago and that is my major). He gave me some good advice and i really appreciate it, for sure i'll remember that time looking back on the week. Now the real fun begins!!! Tomorrow morning, gettin up bright and early to eat breakfast and be outta here by 7:15 gonna start gettin after it at the Habitat sight. The family we're gonna be helping out is a immigrant family, should be quite the interesting experience. Looking forward to it!!!
Holla at a playa!
